Getting Started

1. Ground Preparation

  • We recommend 4-6” of topsoil.
  • Rake all large rocks & debris such as leaves.
  • Level the soil and then pack firmly with a lawn roller.
  • Install any irrigation.

2. Measuring and Ordering Sod

  • Calculate the amount of sod required by measuring the length and width of the areas in feet. Length x Width = square feet divided by 9 will give you the number of square yards needed.
  • Contact us via telephone at 1-250-549-2967 or fill out our request a quote form here.

3. Installation

  • Unroll the turf.
  • Stagger the joints in each row in a brick-like fashion while ensuring that the pieces lay flush. Avoid any overlaps or gaps!
  • Roll with a lawn roller and press down the new sod.
  • Water immediately. In hot weather, water while installing.
  • Keep turf moist for approximately 2 weeks until firmly rooted (avoid overwatering).
  • Be sure your turf has enough moisture to survive hot, dry or windy periods.
  • Begin mowing when turf roots are difficult to separate from the soil, mowing high the first time bringing it down to the desired height gradually.
